FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 28, 2008

(Overland Park, Kan. – October 28) – The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) was held in Seattle, Washington, with representatives from 26 state licensing boards and agencies, schools, and prominent national businesses and professional associations in attendance.

The delegate assembly, comprised of FSMTB member boards, elected Scott Miller, LMP, and vice chair of the Washington State Board of Massage, to serve on the Board of Directors, replacing David Quiring, LMT, whose term had expired. Quiring has been on the FSMTB Board of Directors since the inception of the organization and has been an integral part of establishing stability and growth for the FSMTB. Patty Glenn, LMP/LMT, and Kathy Jensen, LMT, were both re-elected to the Board of Directors.

Kevin Snedden, LMT, chair of the Missouri Board of Therapeutic Massage was elected to serve as president; Kathy Jensen, LMT, chair of the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy as vice president; and Susan Beam, LMBT, chair of the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy as treasurer.

Patty Glenn concluded a three-year span as president of FSMTB and did not seek re-election for the position. Glenn states, “I have been honored to serve both the regulatory community and the profession in my role as president of FSMTB. It is time for me to step down from the role of president and allow others the opportunity to lead and expand our support to the regulatory community. I am delighted to be able to continue to serve FSMTB as a director and to work on specific projects that will contribute to writing the next chapters for the FSMTB.”

According to Snedden, “In a short space of time, the FSMTB has quickly become recognized as a leader in the professional community. I am eager to continue the important work of the Federation as we serve the regulatory community with integrity and transparency and participate in the evolution of the profession as a whole.”
