FSMTB Presented at the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation Annual Conference

Overland Park, Kan., September 28, 2015– The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) presented at the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR) Annual Educational Conference in Boston, Mass., on September 18^th. FSMTB Executive Director, Dr. Debra Persinger, was part of a panel presentation entitled “Lessons Learned from Pirate Raids: Case Studies Exploring the Use of Ex Parte Seizures to Combat Test Piracy.”

“I was thrilled with the opportunity to represent the FSMTB in this capacity and highlight our ongoing security procedures that ensure the integrity of the MBLEx.” Dr. Persinger said. “Our member boards and agencies should be proud of their ability to construct security procedures that make the MBLEx a model examination for the licensing and regulatory profession.”

Dr. Persinger presented case studies specific to the provision of the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (“MBLEx”) during her time as Executive Director of the FSMTB. The case studies highlighted the utilization of the ex parte seizure order, which allows for the unannounced raid of premises and seizure of materials by United States federal marshals. She presented alongside Jennifer Semko, FSMTB counsel from the law firm of Baker & McKenzie, and colleagues from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards.
